Josephine and pet cheetah
Josephine baker
May, 1926

Josephine Baker recently gave a series of high-glamour performances at Carnegie Hall, in Harlem and across the country.  Appearing in everything imaginable from pearl-dripped leotards, feathered headresses and fur boas, to blue jeans, t-shirts and sneakers, she got ovation after ovation for her sexually sentimental renditions of old favourites like "Begin the Beguine" and "I'm just wild about Harry," current classics like "People," and "Love Story."

Today she lives in Monte Carlo with twelve adopted children from a potpourri of nations, in a villa donated by Princess Grace of Monaco.
